Hershey Kisses, created in 1907, are small cones of milk chocolate. Its not known how they got their name, but a popular theory is because of the sound the make when being made. They started being machine wrapped in foil in 1921, and todays wrapping machines can wrap 1,300 Kisses a minute. In 1924, the piece of paper out the top was started and trademarked by Milton S. Hershey. The recipe for the chocolate has not changed since 1909. In 1942 until 1949, Hershey Kisses had their only interruption in production, due to World War Two. In 1962, the tradition of using colored foil for holidays was started. The trademark for the shape, name and recipe of Hershey Kisses was obtained in 1976.
