Palace of Versailles

The Palace of Versailles, in Versailles, France, was created from a royal hunting lodge. Starting in 1661, the Palace of Versailles was created by expanding and rennovating a hunting lodge. Louis XIV took a great interest in the town and wanted to center his government there. Of the many sections, the two Grand Apartments alone contain many features. The Grand Apartment du Roi had many rooms named for Roman gods, and due to the many paties thrown by Louis, they each had a function during parties. The Grand Apartment de la Reine is where the famous Hall of Mirrors is located, and also where the Queens bedchambers were often located.
